പലപ്പോഴും സി ഡി ഡ്രൈവ് പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കാത്ത കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറുകളിലും പുതിയ ഓപ്പറേറ്റിങ് സിസറ്റം ഇന്‍സ്റ്റാള്‍ ചെയ്യേണ്ടതായി വരാറുണ്ട്. ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള സന്ദര്‍ഭങ്ങളില്‍ USB പോര്‍ട്ടാണ് തുണയാവുക. പെന്‍ ഡ്രൈവ് ഉപയോഗിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് ഇത്തരം കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറുകളില്‍ ഉബുണ്ടു ഇന്‍സ്റ്റാള്‍ ചെയ്യാവുന്നതേയുള്ളൂ. ഇതെങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യാമെന്നു നോക്കാം.
- 4 GB പെന്‍ഡ്രൈവ് ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കണം
- USB പോര്‍ട്ട് പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നതായിരിക്കണം
- Ubuntu ഓപ്പറേറ്റിങ് സിസറ്റത്തിന്റെ ISO ഇമേജ് കയ്യിലുണ്ടായിരിക്കണം.
ഏതെങ്കിലും സിഡി/ഡിവിഡി റൈറ്റിങ് സോഫ്റ്റ്വെയര് ഉപയോഗിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് ISO ഇമേജ് ക്രിയേറ്റ് ചെയ്യാം. K3b സോഫ്റ്റ്വെയര് ഉപയോഗിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് ISO ഇമേജ് ക്രിയേറ്റ് ചെയ്യുന്ന വിധം താഴെ പറയുന്നു.
K3b ഓപ്പണ്‍ ചെയ്ത്(Application -> Sound and Video -> K3b) Cpoy Medium ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക. സി ഡി ഡ്രൈവില്‍ Ubuntu ഓപ്പറേറ്റിങ് സിസിറ്റം Insert ചെയ്തിരിക്കണം.
Only Create Image ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്ത് ISO ഇമേജ് സേവ് ചെയ്യുക.
- Insert an 4GB pendrive in USB Port
- Then, open the 'Make Startup Disk' window as per (System --> Administration --> USB Startup Disk Creator)
താഴെ കാണുന്നതു പോലുള്ള വിന്‍ഡോ ആയിരിക്കും ഇപ്പള്‍ കാണുന്നത്.
- Click on 'other' button and select the ubuntu iso image.
- Select the dictected pen drive and click 'Format'
- If the Pen drive is formatted and ok, then click the button 'Make Startup Disk'
- After few minutes (around 15 to 20 minutes) the disk creation completed message will appear.
- Configure the system/laptop without DVD Drive as pen drive as I boot device.
- Insert the pen drive in usb port and restart the system.
- You can install/boot Ubuntu as just as from the DVD
