സ്പാര്‍ക്ക് സൈറ്റ്, കായികമേള, കലാമേളയിലും, പ്രവര്‍ത്തി പരിചയമേള, എന്നിവയിലും മറ്റും കുട്ടികളുടെ ഫോട്ടോ അപ്‌ലോഡ്‌ ചെയ്യുമ്പോള്‍ അവയുടെ സൈസ് മാറ്റേണ്ടി വരാറുണ്ട്. കലാമേള സൈറ്റില്‍ കുട്ടികളുടെ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ എന്റര്‍ ചെയ്യുന്ന സമയമാണല്ലോ ഇത്. സര്‍ട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റിലും മറ്റും ഫോട്ടോ വരണമെന്നുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍  ഡാറ്റ എന്റര്‍ ചെയ്യുന്ന സമയത്തു തന്നെ അവരുടെ ഫോട്ടോയും ചേര്‍ത്തിരിക്കണം. ചെറിയ സൈസിലുള്ള ഫോട്ടോകള്‍ ആണ് അപ്‌ലോഡ് ചെയ്യാന്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്നത്.  നാം ക്യാമറയില്‍ എടുക്കുന്ന ഫോട്ടോകള്‍ വളരെ വലിപ്പം കൂടിയവയും ആയിരിക്കും. എങ്ങനെയാണ് ഫോട്ടോയുടെ വലിപ്പം കുറയ്ക്കേണ്ടത്. ഇമേജുകളുടെ സൈസ് കുറയ്ക്കാന്‍ ധാരാളം സോഫ്റ്റ്‌വെയറുകള്‍ വിന്‍ഡോസിലും ഉബുണ്ടുവിലും ലഭ്യമാണ്. ഓരോ ഇമേജ് എടുത്തു കൊണ്ട് സൈസ് ചെറുതാക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ധാരാളം സമയ നഷ്ടം ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു. ഒരു വിദ്യാലയത്തിലെ മത്സരത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ കുട്ടികളുടേയും ഫോട്ടോകള്‍ ഒരുമിച്ച് റീസൈസ് ചെയ്യാന്‍ സാധിച്ചാല്‍ എത്ര ഉപകാരപ്രദമായിരിക്കുമെന്ന് ചിന്തിച്ചിട്ടില്ലേ.

വിന്‍ഡോസ് ഓപ്പറേറ്റിങ് സിസ്റ്റത്തില്‍ വളരെ എളുപ്പത്തില്‍ ഇതു ചെയ്യാവുന്നതാണ്. വിന്‍ഡോസില്‍ തിനു സഹായിക്കുന്ന സോഫ്റ്റ്‌വെയറാണ് Microsoft Office Picture Manager. ആദ്യമായി എല്ലാ കുട്ടികളുടേയും ഫോട്ടോകള്‍ ഒരു ഫോള്‍ഡറില്‍ സേവ് ചെയ്ത് വെക്കുക. അതിനു ശേഷം Microsoft Office Picture Manager ഓപ്പണ്‍ ചെയ്യുക. റീ സൈസ് ചെയ്യേണ്ട എല്ലാ ചിത്രങ്ങളും Microsoft Office Picture Manager വിന്‍ഡോയിലേക്ക് കോപ്പി ചെയ്തിടുക.

 തുടര്‍ന്ന് മുകളില്‍ കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു പോലെ  എല്ലാ ചിത്രങ്ങളും ഒരുമിച്ച് സെലക്ട് ചെയ്യുക. ഇനി റീസൈസ് ബട്ടണ്‍ സെലക്ച് ചെയ്യുക. Tools മെനുവില്‍ നിന്നും Resize ഓപ്ഷന്‍ സെലക്ട് ചെയ്യുക. ഇപ്പോള്‍ വലതു വശത്ത് റീസൈസ് ടാബ് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നത് കാണാം. ഇവിടെ Predefined Width x Height എന്ന ഓപ്ഷന്‍ കാണാം. ഇതിനു താഴെ നിന്നും Web small (448 x 336) സെലക്ട് ചെയ്യുക. OK ബട്ടണ്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക. തുടര്‍ന്ന് സേവ് ചെയ്യുക. ഇപ്പോള്‍ എല്ലാ ചിത്രങ്ങളും ഒരുമിച്ച് റീ സൈസ് ആയിരിക്കുന്നതു കാണാം. ഇമേജില്‍  റൈറ്റ് ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്ത് Properties എടുക്കു നോക്കിയാല്‍ ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ വലുപ്പം മനസ്സിലാക്കാം.

ഉബുണ്ടുവില്‍ വളരെ ഓരോ ചിത്രങ്ങളായി എങ്ങനെ റീസൈസ് ചെയ്യാമെന്ന് ഇതിനു മുമ്പ് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിരുന്ന പോസ്റ്റ് താഴെ കാണാം. റീ സൈസ് ചെയ്യേണ്ട ഫോട്ടോ റൈറ്റ് ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്ത് gThump Image Viewer ല്‍ ഓപ്പണ്‍ ചെയ്യുക (Right Click - Open with - gThump Image Viewer) . റൈറ്റ് ക്ലിക്ക് ല്‍ gThump Image Viewer ഇല്ലെങ്കില്‍ Right Click ചെയ്യുമ്പോള്‍ ലഭിക്കുന്ന Other Application വഴി gThump Image Viewer ല്‍ എത്തിച്ചേരാം.

തുടര്‍ന്ന് gThump Image Viewer ന്റെ മെനു ബാറിലെ ഇമേജ് മെനുവില്‍ നിന്നും  Resize ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക. റീ സൈസ് ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുമ്പോള്‍ താഴെ കാണുന്നതു പോലെയുള്ള വിന്‍ഡോ വരും. ഇവിടെ keep aspect ratio ടിക്ക് മാര്‍ക്ക് നല്‍കിയതിനു ശേഷം Height, width എന്നിവ ആവശ്യാനുസരണം മാറ്റം വരുത്താവുന്നതാണ്.

 

ഇവ Photo ല്‍ Apply ചെയ്യാന്‍ Scale എന്ന ബട്ടണില്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക.

ഇപ്പോള്‍ മാറ്റം വരുത്തിയ പുതിയ ഫോട്ടോ Save as കൊടുത്ത് പുതിയ File Type ലോ നിലവിലുള്ള File Type ലോ Save ചെയ്യാം.

ഫയല്‍ ടൈപ്പ് മാറ്റി jpg, jpeg തുടങ്ങിയവയിലേക്ക് മാറ്റണമെന്നുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ Save As കൊടുക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ലഭിക്കുന്ന Image File Type എന്ന ഓപ്ഷന്‍ ആണ് ഉപയോഗിക്കേണ്ടത്.

കുട്ടികളുടെ ഫോട്ടോ എടുക്കുന്ന സമയത്ത് Portrait ഫോട്ടോകള്‍ എടുക്കാന്‍ ശ്രമിക്കുക. Land Scape ഫോട്ടോകല്‍ അപ്‌ലോഡ് ചെയ്യുമ്പോള്‍ ഫോട്ടോകള്‍ വികൃതമായി കാണപ്പെടാറുണ്ട്.
എങ്കിലും പലപ്പോഴും Land Scape ല്‍ ഉള്ള ഫോട്ടോകള്‍ അപ്‌ലോഡ് ചെയ്യേണ്ടി വരാറുണ്ട്. അതേ സമയം അപ്‌ലോഡ് ബോക്സ് Portrait ഉം ആയിരിക്കും. ഇങ്ങനെ വരുമ്പോള്‍ അപ്‍ലോഡ് ചെയ്ത ഫോട്ടോകള്‍ വികൃത രൂപത്തില്‍ കാണുകയും സര്‍ട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റില്‍ അത്തരം വൈകൃതം പ്രിന്റ് ചെയ്ത് വരികയും ചെയ്യും.Land Scape ല്‍ ഉള്ള ഫോട്ടോകളെ Portrait രുപത്തിലേക്ക് മാറ്റി അപ്‌ലോഡ് ചെയ്യുകയാണ് ഇതിനൊരു പരിഹാരം. 

Land Scape ല്‍ ഉള്ള ഫോട്ടോ അപ്‌ലോഡ് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതും അതേ ഫോട്ടോ തന്നെ Portrait ലേക്ക് മാറ്റി അപ്‌ലോഡ് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതും താഴെ കാണാം.

gThumbp Image Viewer ​എന്ന സോഫ്റ്റ‌വെയറിലെ Crop എ​ന്ന ടൂള്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ച്  Landscape ല്‍ ഉള്ള ചിത്രത്തെ Portrait ല്‍ മുറിച്ചെടുത്ത് അപ്‌ലോഡ് ചെയ്യാവുന്നതാണ്. ആവശ്യമായ അളവില്‍ സെലക്ട് ചെയ്ത ശേഷം Done ബട്ടണ്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്ത് സേവ് ചെയ്യുക.
വിന്‍ഡോസ് ഓപ്പറേറ്റിങ് സിസ്റ്റത്തിലും Microsoft Windows Picture Manager (ചിത്രത്തില്‍ റൈറ്റ് ക്ലിക്ക് - Open with - Microsoft Windows Picture Manager ) എന്ന സോഫ്റ്റ്‌വെയര്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ഈ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളെല്ലാം  വളരെ എളുപ്പത്തില്‍ ചെയ്യാവുന്നതേയുള്ളൂ.

Picasa

1. Open Google Picasa and browse to the image location and double-click the image you wish to resize.
2. Once the image has been opened click the Export button on the bottom of the window.
3. In the Export to Folder window decrease the size by dragging the Resize to: bar to the left.

The GIMP

1. Open the image in The GIMP.
2. Click Image at the top of the image tool bar.
3. Click Scale Image
4. In the Image size specify the dimensions you wish to use and then click the Scale button.

Microsoft Paint users

Microsoft Paint users can use the Stretch/Skew option under the Image drop-down menu; however, this option often degrades the overall quality of the image. We suggest users use one of the above programs or solutions for resizing their images instead.

Adobe Photoshop users

1. Open the image in Adobe Photoshop.
2. Click Image
3. Click Image size
4. Specify the size of the image you wish to have. It's often easier for most users to specify the size using pixels as the measurement.

Crop An Image

Cropping An Imagen image allows you to cut out any portion of the image you don't like or make an image smaller. This document contains the steps performed to crop an image in each of the major image editors. To the right is a visual example of a large image, such as an image scanned into the computer being cropped to a smaller image.

If you would like to keep everything in the image but make it smaller you want to resize the image.

IrfanView

1. Open the image in IrfanView
2. Click the mouse and drag a box around the section you wish to crop.
3. Click Edit and then Crop selection

Picasa

1. Open Google Picasa and browse to the image location and double-click the image you wish to crop.
2. Once the image has been opened click the Crop button.
3. Either drag a box around the selection you wish to crop or click 4 x 6, 5 x 7, or 8 x 10 if you're wanting to crop the image to a hard copy image.

Microsoft Paint users

Microsoft Paint does not have an easy to use crop feature like many other image editors. However, with a few extra steps Microsoft Paint users can still crop images.

If the image is similar to the above example, with white or empty portions on the right and bottom of the image you can use the image grabbers on the bottom right corner of the image and click and drag the image up to the left until you have only the image selected and then let go.

If you wish to crop a portion of the image that is not on the top left of the image or you want to crop any other portion of the image follow the below steps.

1. Open the image in Microsoft Paint.
2. Click on the select tool and drag it around the portion you wish to crop.
3. Once selected click Edit and then Copy.
4. Click File and click New.
5. In the new image click Edit and click Paste.
6. Finally, save the cropped image as a different name or as the same name if you wish to overwrite the other file.

The GIMP

1. Open the image in The GIMP.
2. Use the rectangle marquee to select what portion of the image you wish to crop.
3. Click Image at the top of the image tool bar.
4. Click Crop Image.

Adobe Photoshop users

1. Open the image in Adobe Photoshop.
2. Select the portion of the image you wish to crop using the marquee tool.
3. Click Image
4. Click Crop
